The Movement

Do you want to live in last place?

Sometimes all it takes to get started is a little help from some friends.

This will be the space where we’ll share that help.

We want this to be a place where ideas are exchanged so if there’s something you are doing in your everyday life where you are intentionally taking last place (big or small) let us know so we can share your ideas with others so they can start doing the same thing.

E-mail your ideas to lastplacepeople@gmail.com.

Last Place Opportunity in Cleveland!

Hey There Everyone!!! I wanted to talk to you all about a possible ministry opportunity. I know I have talked to some of you already, others of you I don’t even know… if you could just please take a minute to read through this and e-mail\facebook me back!! Thank you so much!!!

Andy Sikora has been preaching at 707 about being “last place people” and what that truly looks like. He has taught us that Jesus served the people and that we need to put ourselves last like Jesus and start serving our brothers and sisters.

After one of Andy’s messages I got to thinking about the service opportunities at 707. I felt like there need to be more service opportunities to match different people’s passions. I talked to Andy about this and he asked that I get more information.

As I spent time praying about this, I found myself driving to school and passing a church where a large amount of homeless people stood outside. Bingo! God had spoken.

I turned around, went in the church and met with the Pastor. I explain Andy’s message and some ideas. Pastor Doug gave me some information, we talked, and then he introduced me to a man who was once homeless and addicted to crack. We talked for a while and he explained to me how he turned his life around. How God never left him and how all he needed was someone to tell him that and his life changed.

I went home and researched Cleveland statistics as well as the church’s information and what Pastor Doug had told me. I presented all this to Andy last Sunday and then proceeded to have another meeting with Pastor Doug on Tuesday.

Pastor Doug explained to me all the service opportunities at their church. There is need for
manual labor: fixing broken ceiling tiles, fixing floor tiles, help tearing things down and putting things up, etc
children’s ministry: no specifics were talked about but Pastor Doug would like to meet with someone that has a heart for children
homeless ministry
clothing ministry: distributing and sorting the clothing donations they pass out to the homeless
food ministry
and these were JUST SOME of the needs we briefly discussed.

What Pastor Doug asked that I do was contact my peers and see who would be interested in helping. Who would want to sit down and brainstorm ideas? Who would want to be apart of this?
So that brings me to ask all of you if you’re interested. Know that saying yes, you are interested in hearing more or meeting with the Pastor to understand what direction we want to move in does not mean you are committed. We just want a wide range of individuals to help facilitate positive change in Cleveland for Christ.

If you are interested I would ask you to e-mail or facebook me back:
Your Name
Cell Phone Number and\or Your E-mail Address
Times available to meet (to discuss further plans)
Areas of interest (do you have a musical gift are you artistic, do you have a love for kids, whatever it may be!)

I know this was extremely long to read and I thank you for taking the time! I hope to hear back from you!!!! I really think we could make a big impact for Christ if we come together to love those that are truly less fortunate than us.

The church is called: St. Paul’s Community Church and it’s website is: http://www.stpaulscleveland.org/

Please e-mail\facebook\call me with any ideas or questions. I know this is very vague and I’m sorry I can’t give anymore information but this Pastor truly wants to meet with us to help start serving a community of poor, homeless, mentally handicapped, physically handicapped, and others less fortunate than us. He wants to know what you see, what you think, what you envision. This is just in the very, very, very beginning stages and I would love if you all could be apart of this!

Thanks again for you time! I look forward to hearing back from you guys!!

  1. i love this movement!

  2. Awesome series so far. Worth bringing lots of friends to.

  3. Will there be more churches getting involved in LPP?

  4. I have found this series/ movement to be a challenging one already! Being content with being in last place is hard to grasp. I’ve found that serving others, is a great way to feel good about being in last place. To do good for others, not because we have to, but because we want to. We’re called to serve! I am no better than anyone and I am NOTHING without Christ! Be blessed!
